Advanced Scientific Visualization
This course aims at providing the students with state of the art knowledge of scientific visualization and present recent applications of scientific visualization. Furthermore, it aims at training students in understanding, critically assessing, presenting and discussing scientific papers in the field. The course is targeting students who wish to pursue research projects involving development of visualization algorithms or methods or development of novel applications of visualization.
The course will cover selected papers on:
- Visualization of large data sets, compression and simplification of data sets
- Interactive volume visualization
- Use of level sets in visualization
- Methods for realistic visualization of natural phenomena
- Image based visualization
- Tensor visualization
- View dependent visualization
- Use of haptics in visualization
- Case studies from several different fields
